As a Garden Expert and Salesperson, you will join our team to provide garden consultations and general consulting services to clients, generate sales by providing clients with creative solutions to solve their landscape needs through creation of sales proposals/contracts.  You will also collaborate with a design specialist to produce landscape designs, planting plans and gardenscape conceptuals.

   Primary Responsibilities (~2-4 days/week)

·       Garden Client Consultation: Interact with clients and assess properties and potential growing areas, conceptualize garden ideas and structures, identify solutions to issues, educate clients about plants and garden ecology and help clients to be empowered, appreciate and enjoy plants and gardening.

·       Sales: Sell products and services to clients based on consultations.

·       Plant, Landscape and Garden Knowledge: Ability and understanding of plants (we love natives and pollinators!) to identify existing plants and recommend new plantings and configurations of existing plants.

·       Customer Service: Great personal skills and ability to communicate to customers and team members in a clear, professional and authentic manner.

  Secondary Responsibilities (~1-3 days/week)

·       Garden Maintenance: Care for and grow garden plants for clients including feeding, watering, pruning, pest and disease management. Also repair or assist in repair of existing gardens (raised beds, fences, gates, irrigation, soil erosion, shade issue, etc.) as needed.

·       Garden Installation: Installation or repair of raised or in-ground garden beds, fence enclosures, fence posts, gates, basic irrigation systems, trellises, assembly of garden accessories (benches, tables, trellises, etc), planting of garden veggies, flowers and herbs and other tasks related to projects. Also included is the hauling of garden soil, compost and fill dirt, garden boxes and other heavy items (see Physical Strength and Dexterity below).

·       Transportation: You must have a valid driver’s license and provide your own transportation. We will provide a transportation reimbursement.

·       Physical Strength and Dexterity: You will occasionally need to carry approximately 40 pounds of equipment and/or materials and have mobility to work on hands and knees or overhead when standing on the ground.

Leadership Abilities

  Performance/Production:

·       Advise clients on plants, water runoff, landscapes and gardens through Garden Consultations.

·       Engage with clients and develop project concepts, costs and contracts

·       Successfully transition oversight and management of sold projects to the designated Project Manager/Foreman

·       Ability to multi-task.

   Physical Performance and Skills:

·       Instruct installation team leads and other as necessary, in the tasks to implement newly sold projects.

·       Provide ongoing technical and horticultural support to installation teams.

  Human Relations:

·       Maintain a positive attitude and outlook toward the work performed.

·       Work with installation team to achieve best possible results.

·       Project team atmosphere on crew.

·       Serve as main contact with clients until project implementation phase.

  Equipment and Company Property:

·       Maintain a clean driving record of six points or less and as needed provide your own transportation – though company vehicles will be primarily used.  For use of your own vehicle, we will provide a transportation reimbursement.

·       Demonstrate ability to drive company vehicles safely.

  Quality:

·       Instruct others in techniques to improve quality as necessary.

We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated Garden Maintenance and Installation Specialist who will join our team to work on sustainable landscape installation and maintenance, edible food gardens and  garden handyperson services.  Examples of work include but are not limited to: installation of garden beds, hauling soil, mulch and other items, weeding, tree pruning, installation of plantings, repair of gardens, installation of irrigation, installation of stormwater catchment systems, maintaining equipment and cultivating and caring for plants including vegetables, flowers and herbs.

Horticulturist/Garden Installation and Maintenance Specialist

 We are looking for an energetic and motivated Horticulturist/Garden Maintenance and Installation Specialist who will join our team who will provide plant and garden maintenance services to clients, install gardenscapes, provide garden coaching support to clients, engage clients as needed re questions, issues and concerns.  As a horticulturist, they would assume a primary role of installation of plants on job sites and development of planting plans for projects, caring for plants in our small nursery as well acquisition of plants and plant products as needed from other sources. Other work includes installation of garden beds, hauling of soil and other materials, assisting with project design, maintaining equipment.  The horticulturist will also engage in sales, as the opportunity arises, during client interactions with focus on maintenance plans, consultations, repair work, full design and install services and garden coaching.

 

Job Requirements:
 •        Horticultural Activities: Manage planting efforts on job sites; planting of garden veggies, flowers and herbs and other tasks related to projects; conduct garden maintenance services which include: plant and soil care, organic pest control and garden structure improvements; maintenance of simple irrigation systems, cultivation and care for nursery plant stock; development of planting plans for clients and related activities.
